I intend to paint my garage floor, but wanted some advice on preparation. The floor is not porous, and actually quite smooth to the touch, almost like it has been sealed before. Do l need to use some kind of primer first before the main finish. Just worried about adhesion. It is used as a gym so no vehicle goes in there.
Any advice appreciated

Depends on what it was painted with. Various chemicals react with others.
My garage floor was done with a wickes garage floor paint but if I do it again I would use an epoxy paint

As it is a gym you might be better with interlocking tiles as they are softer on the joints

Just out of curiosity, when you you paint the floor and how has it lasted? I also was looking at a hard wearing floor paint from Wickes. Will definitely be painted, as that is the look l'd prefer.
The epoxy seems a good option though.
Thanks for your reply.

It was pretty good. But I did it 25 years ago so it has seen better days. The back is fine where I work at a bench but the front is breaking up, mainly because I kick start bikes on the floor.

I used red, but grey would look better
