Hi , can anyone tell me why there is a green stain on my gable end wall , which seems to have come from the combi boilers pressure release valve vent pipe ,i believe the pipe should face the wall which it does , so why is the wall turning green , house was pebble dashed just over a year ago, if i can't find the answer my only option is to get the pipe extended out further from the wall & hopefully that will help , see photo ,

I would guess the rain is washing off the pipe and down the wall and giving that stain, or that the boiler PRV has been letting by a little.

thanks Dan, i'm wondering if it is the rainwater running of the pipe, which may have some green oxidation on it ,causing the wall to get stained , is that possible ,

You cannot extend the pipe. It must point towards the wall. Clean and paint the pipe. Check the system pressure.

He can, just not further from the wall

Nothing to stop the pipe being brought down to ground level.
The pipe running down to ground level outside will look ugly. Should be inside, or get a boiler that does not need this pipe, like an Intergas or ATAG. If it was my place I would pipe it into the internal drain, using high temp' plastic pipe where it can do done. The boiler makers will disown it, and the guarantee is void, but if those points do not apply then I would do it. Boiling water regularly gets poured down sinks hitting plastic traps and drain pipes without any problems.

thanks everyone , (UPDATE) i had a plumber round today who also is connected to the rendering work which has been done , he thinks it's coming from the PRV he is going to twist the pipe slightly & keep an eye on it to see where & if it stains , i have washed the wall & prv with soapy water , i couldn't remove the stain completely but it is a lot better , hard to find a suitable cleaner for this stain .

latest update, called in heating engineer to inspect boiler ,expansion vessel was needing pumped up ,so when pressure was building up it was blowing it out the pressure relief valve pipe ,he said it was probably the inhibitor that was making the green stain on the wall ,
thanks everyone
