My Honeywell CM927 'move-around-the-house' thermostat's display is making it hard to program, and the clock part is the worst bit. BG will do a replacement of their choice for my £60 excess; or put in Hive for £179. Is it worth going for? I believe the Honeywell is about £100 to buy, not fitted.

Thanks

Fair point Ianmcd, but my OP does make clear that BG would be happy to fit one for £179. Kinda suggests that my Greenstar 37 is ok.

If it's any help, and assuming you have a maintenance contract with BG - we called them out for a genuine fault. The engineer said he could fit Hive for £50 less while he was there.

Thanks for that. I wondered why the service guy insisted on leaving his mobile number- commission? I'll give him a ring.

I would like to second what Alan said. Was offered it by BG for £149 fitted, this was during the yearly service.

Bg guys have a 30% sales target so they will jump through any hoops you put up to sell you something.

Go to your local plumbcenter and ask for a Centerbrand programmable stat.
It's almost identical to the one you have, as it's made by Honeywell.

It'll take you less than a minute to change, as the receivers are the same.

I think they're £60 inc vat

I fitted a hive for a customer a few months back and to be honest I wasn't that impressed with it. Like kidgreen61 says you could replace it for something similar and it would be cheaper but if you're determined to get a smart stat installed then I would suggest a nest, Ive found that they're much better than the hive

you may have a creditable answer but why move it around the house.room thermostats over the years have been known to offer decent comfort levels & fuel savings when permanently wall fixed in a suitable position reacting to an adjacent suitable radiator without a trv on a properly installed system.
