Hi

We're considering installing CCTV to our property to supplement the alarm and dog.

It's a slightly odd setup with the house being side on to the road and with farmland on 3 sides. I've added a couple of pics below to try and show the arrangement.

I'm thinking a 3 camera system will probably cover our needs, not looking for anything fancy just a simple system that I can setup and then forget about - hopefully I'll never need to use it anger but if I do then obviously I'd want it to be of some use! Budget is probably around £300ish

Anyone care to comment on the proposed camera placements and suggest what cameras would be best suited for each location. 5mp Hikvision seems to get recommended a lot but the choice is somewhat bewildering? Also what DVR & HDD size should I be looking at.

Thanks

I would personally put four cameras in and put the cameras at the corners, so each camera is covering the over camera.

I’m guessing you are going down Coax Hikvision PoC route as IP is expensive. Personally if it is just general area you want to cover then I would suggest to install fixed lens. Also would say to install bullets, mainly because the sun shield protects the lens from getting rain on the lens.

Google CCTV HDD calculator and when you click your settings click on H.265+, recording resolution and how many days. For four cameras it said 3TB should be fine.

I hope this helps
