Hi , i have a bonding strap just below my mains water tap where it comes in under the kitchen sink ( the other end of the earth disappears behind the wall , so i can't tell if it is connected to anything) ,but when i look at my mains earth just below my consumer unit i can only see the heavier earth cable going into the C.U. & there is a thinner one going to a radiator copper pipe bonding strap the radiator sits just near C.U. cupboard , ( i don't think is needed )
but i can't see the earth cable which i believe should come from mains water strap to this MET
please see photo

It may be connected to the earth busbar in the consumer unit.
If it’s not there you may need one run in. Is the incoming water pipe metal, or plastic?

Are you sure that: (a) the cable from under the kitchen sink is not going to your CU and (b) that the smaller cable you can see goes only to the nearby radiator?

Kind Regards, John

I have in the past used these

which would mean you can have many bonds to earth using a single cable, so only way to know is to test, unfortunately the testing with an impedance tester can produce a danger while testing, so I would not really be happy trying to give instructions on a forum. Likely the easiest DIY fix is to run another earth wire to be sure.

Think iv'e found it there is a earth cable coming down the back of the wall just above the C.U.

It looks like it - but you need to find out whether it goes into the CU, and whether it is coming from water pipe in the kitchen.

Kind Regards, John

don't know what else it can be ,i'm going to get the C.U. inspected & tested soon ,i'll leave the spark to check if that is the water mains bonding cable
thanks

You're welcome. It should be very easy for an electrician to determine whether or not the incoming water pipe is bonded (and {practicalities aside!} bond it if it isn't).

Kind Regards, John
