Sorry, I was referring to the wylex 2 way RCD metal box for my question about 6mm cable size

Of course it will. Its a mini consumer unit, so you would expect that the mains in would be meter tails of maybe 25mm², and the circuit connections can, or course, cater for 6mm² or more.

But this stuff is notifiable and should be done by a registered electrician.

The board is too small to accommodate any merlin / Schneider RCBOs
Were there later versions of that board that had the DIN rail higher up? I'm sure I've fitted RCBOs to very similar merlin boards but can see that it wouldn't fit in the one in the picture

A double pole RCBO by Schneider should fit but they cost over £120!

The standard A type DBs will fit an RCBO without a problem. Whilst they are a similar design, as you say the DIN rail etc is higher up allowing the extra room at the bottom.

It looks like the same casing which squareD used, but their busbar was at the bottom, so there was room for all the gubbins in the top of the board.

This was definatly a plastic cased C/U rather than a type A board, had a C/U type busbar like the one in the picture as opposed to the iso-bar assembly. Just had a look and I haven't got any pictures. It was in a tea room cabin at a warehouse and was I think, possibily the only cabin I've seen that didn't have a 30mA incommer. It defintaly wasn't a problem to fit.

I know the square D boards you mean, interestingly I tested one I took out to see if it was as flamable as the plastic one of another make that you burnt.... it wasn't, went out as soon as heat removed , but then again, it was a bit older too and I think that might have more bearing than the manufactuer (well not age as such, but date of manufacture)
