HI Folks

I have ordered a replacement immersion heater see pic. To my surprise A gasket was not supplied with this but has a large O - Ring. Will this make a watertight seal? Do I need to apply any jointing compound. How tight to you recon - crazy never getting it off again or just enough?

Much obliged.

Avoid using silicone with any O rings it causes them to slip and squeeze out of the seating just a little water (or spit on it:whistle:!) to lubricate it slightly.

ha ha spit on it I might!. So no jointing compound just spit and screw.... oh er?

:)(y)
Just check the seatings are clean. Must say I'm not a fan of O rings for jobs like that but if that's what they supply best to use it.

yes that what they have supplied its a heatrod and the only one I could find that states its compatible with the ZIP RCH25. Thanks Mate

Unless the o-ring is retained by a recess then it really is a poor design. Suspect the manufacturer/supplier has found that o-rings are cheaper than flat gaskets and every penny saved is a penny in their pocket.

what you have is correct, do not use any kind of jointing paste and you do not have to heave it up
