Hi all,

I've just had my bathroom re-plastered ready for a refit. Please can you give me some advice on the corrects steps and best products for primer, tanking and adhesive?

Is it correct to assume that I need to prime the walls I will also be tanking?

I will be tiling with 300mm x 110mm tiles. Should I use ready mixed shower proof adhesive? I would also assume it's best to use a primer matched to the adhesive?

Many thanks

Prime the plaster with SBR or acrylic, not PVA. Most tanking kits come with their own but if not, try and stick to the same manufacturer if possible. Tank it, then tile it with a flexible cement based powdered adhesive. Not ready-mixed as it will not cure properly on an impervious substrate.
