Which tile adhesive, can I use ready mixed

Hi all

i know powdered adhesive has to be used on large format tiles, however.....

I am tiling the back wall of my cloakroom, a massive 1m2 (I only need 8 tiles (600x300). The width is around 900mm so I’ll be working out from the centre line, so around 450mm per tile. Given the cut tiles will be 450x300, it’s on a small wall, would ready mixed adhesive be ok ?

Back wall is a new stud portion clad in new plasterboard if this makes a difference?

The issue with tubbed adhesive is if the tiles are porcelain, or too large, they will not dry properly. Most manufacturers won't advise fixing anything, even ceramic, over 30x30

I'd personally stick to the rule book and used cement-based, however for ceramic only (not porcelain) and if you want to risk invalidating your warranty, the adhesive "should" hold and cure sufficiently, but it would be critical that they are left for at least 7 days before grouting.

Thanks for replying. In the end I did use a cement based powdered adhesive as the tiles changed to 900 x 300’s.

Trouble now is, I’ve got to do the bottom row (started off a batten) and no adhesive left. Final two are approx 300 x 200 so will need to buy a small bag of adhesive for these.
