Hello
I'm in need of some advice on how I can repair a bedroom wall myself in my bedroom. That I desperatly need to finish. I only need to get it to a finish good enough to put lining paper up, then wallpaper over that

Basically the bonding coat plaster and top coat of plaster is blown in a quite a few areas (Lime plaster 1930s house) pics attached

I've had a plasterer round to have a look and has quoted to
Sbr wall after I have removed all plaster off wall, then a coat of hardwool plaster. Come back next day And then a coat of multi finish gypsum plaster to finish it off. Not sure if thats the best way? Been quoted £500 to sort one wall and that is me removing all the original plaster. Also he said he couldn't do it until 6weeks, which makes me think he doesnt want the work either and no other plaster is interested at all in the slightest as it's only 1 wall

So if anyone could advise the best way I could fix this myself just so I can stick on some lining paper and move back into the room I would really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance

Sprocker, good evening.

How about looking at "Dot and Dab" fixing of plasterboard??

Ken

Hi Ken
What's involved in dot and dab with plaster board? Sorry for all the questions I have never done any work with plaster board or plastering before so I'm a complete newbie as I've always got plasterers in to do all the work in the past! Would you think fixing plasterboard would be a better option rather than using hardwood then a final skim after?
Thanks

Sprocker, good evening, again.

Rather than me trying to type an answer, try U-Tube and look for Dot and Dab of plasterboard.

Why? because it is an easier way than actually applying [or trying to] apply plaster, as an aside on the type of walls you have I think a load of your newly applied plaster is liable to fall back off

Plastering to a reasonably good acceptable finish is not something learned overnight?

Ok that's great thanks ken

D&D plasterboard + Skimming is the easiest and cleanest way. However, you will lose some wall space usually 1.5-2cm and this sometimes can be a problem if there's a door frame on this wall.

How big is the wall? If you are looking to paint on lining paper, I wouldn't bother skim the whole wall. I would just remove the blown plaster, pva once to dry, twice to wait until tacky and patch with bonding/hardwall. When it's dry, patch again with multi, fill any small hole/crake with easifill.

Perhaps try a handy person instead of a plaster.
