Guys,

I am trying to get three Hikvision IP cams working on a Oyn-x NVR, I can discover all the cams via SADP tool, set the correct IP and login details, they work a treat through a browser, If I go onto the NVR and add them manually it fails with camera is offline or login details are wrong, I have triple checked the settings even the port no, which is the default Oyn-x and hikvision IP port, set the login to basic as well on the cam, I updated the NVR software to the latest version, but still it doesn't seem to connect, any ideas.

Cheers

May need to look at setting cams to onvif.

Also what resolution IP can the onyx except and what resokution are the cameras?

Hi,

NVR supports up to 5MP cams, the cams are 4MP.
Will have a look at that setting and see if it does the trick.

Cheers

Probably a pointless question, but since you are using good quality Hikvision cameras why not invest in a matching Hikvision DVR? It will set up the cameras automatically and be more reliable in the long run.

This is for a friend who inherited the system when they moved in, its a 16 port IP system, seems a waste to replace for simplicity.
I agree though Hikvisions are a lot easier to setup.

What ip range is the nvr switch on? (not the nvr lan address) the cameras will need to be on the same range.
also what port number are you using for the cameras top of my head they should be 554.

The system has two cameras installed already, I did set the hikvision cameras to the next available IP manually, but it didn't find it, port on cams was set to the default which was 8000, I checked the default port that the existing cams should be on which was also 8000, to be honest the software the oyn-x uses is a bit ****e compared to the hikvision stuff, I could get to the properties of the existing cams but it doesn't tell me the port, you mentioned an IP range for the nvr switch, I assume this is on a menu somewhere, I was looking for something like this last night obviously the existing cams pulled there IP from somewhere, unless they were set manually of course.
Think the software said Falcon or Falcon X or something.

what exactly is on the system that's working?

You plugging in to the NVR or across the network?

port 8000 is not the video port try rstp port 554

There are two PTZ's plugged directly on the system already, I am adding three 4MP hikvision cams directly to the back of it, as it supports up to 16 IP cams.
I matched the Hikvision IPs to the next available ones after the already working PTZ ones, there is an option to search for ip cams on the box, but if fails no matter what IP range you give it, so its either authentication, port setting or the option you mentioned earlier that I need to change and test.

Bianco, I will give that a try, port 8000 is the management port, I just checked my Hikvision box.

Only a hikvision nvr will use the 8000 port, when using onvif you are basically just sending a video image and will have limited adjustment though the nvr.

PTZ's Hik?

If its plugged in directly to the NVR and there are user names and passwords on the cameras are they set to the same as the NVR?

so on HIK NVR I would either set a password on the camera and if each camera is different I would have to manually set the details into the NVR for it to connect.

adding non hik onto a hik nvr would use ONVIF.

Nope they are Oyn-x ones.
Yes the login details are the same, the option is actually there for that when adding a new IP cam.
That's what I do on the hikvision stuff, match them up and off they go, simple.
Certainly will try that option, back up there on Friday, will keep you posted.

Cheers for the pointers.
