Any electronics people? 12v output and 10v input

Thanks...but now I'm confused by the conflicting advice.

What sort of relay do you recommend? If you could post a link that would be helpful.

Hi,

The specification of the solenoid is
  • DC 12V 1/4" Quick connect Solenoid valve.
  • Turn on water when system start;and cut off water when system stop.
  • Working pressure:0.02-0.8Mpa
  • Rated power:4.8W.
Thanks for the link... I will looking into that option as well.

Probably the easiest way is for you to buy one of these

and connect it like this

Thinking some more about this and taking into account (a) your level of experience based on your comments, (b) a guess that this “aquarium computer” is probably not cheap, and (c) knowing how much back-EMF you can get from a solenoid, my suggestion would be to get an opto-isolated relay module. These are widely available from e.g. eBay etc.

Thank you. Yes, I'm a total novice... and yes the aquarium controller is expensive :)

I'm going to order a few of the options here and have a play with each one. I will report back.
