Hi,

I have a baxi duo tec 28 HE which keeps dropping pressure and return E119 error code.

In the last month it's had to be topped up 3 times and I topped up again early this week to 2 bar and today the pressure has dropped to below 1 bar.

I've checked all the radiator valves for leaks but can't find any. No visible patches on the ceiling either. Downstairs the central heating pipes run under floor boards so can't really check unless I lift all the floors which I really don't want to do.

Is there any way or test that can be carried out to isolate where the leak is e.g on the boiler or on the system?

Basically I only want to go down lifting the floorboard if I can be sure the leak is on the system.

I've checked the pressure release pipe (the copper pipe outside) and no visible signs of water there either.

Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

I dont believe that Baxi are unwilling to look at it, they will have said that if it isnt boiler related then there will be a charge, not the same thing, why would they not charge if it is nothing to do with them ?

So how would you determine if it's boiler related or not?

there are ways , but as it is a new install , ask your boiler installer to come and confirm that it is definately a boiler problem, why should you be stuck in the middle? get your installer to contact Baxi if the believe it is a boiler fault, they will have a lot more clout than you if they are a genuine installer

It's not a brand new install it's 4 years old and the original installer no longer operates.

You could try topping the pressure up and isolate the flow and return under the boiler and leave overnight. If the pressure drops its on the boiler, if it stays the same its on the system.

From cold turn on the heating on high heat and watch the pressure gauge. After 10- 15 mins does it go into the red zone? If so, its the expansion vessel thats either lost its charge or needs replacing. This issue is very common on Baxi and Main combi boilers.

You say its 4 years old and under warranty? Do you get it serviced every year to ensure warranty is still valid? Recharging vessel is standard in a boiler service.

I checked the pressure relief pipe outside this morning and it did have some water dripping. Yes I do have it serviced annually but the guy doesn't seem to do much when he does the service, he takes some readings and that about it.

your expansion vessel needs pressurising /replaced, supposed to be done during a service but you have been using a poke and go engineer not a proper service

Looks like hes only doing one part of the service.

He needs to recharge the expansion vessel, shouldnt take him more then 15 mins

Since the boiler is still under warranty would baxi come and fix this as the service is not due for a while?

You can try but they might charge you, some manus would just re-charge the vessel if that is all it needs, if the vessel needs replacing they would do that under warranty, sadly in my experience Baxi are not very customer friendly when it comes to warranty calls
