Have just purchased a dual channel Hive and would appreciate if someone could confirm my wiring proposal attached. The solid lines represent current wiring using Honeywell timer and stat, the dotted lines represent proposed wiring to Hive. (British gas arrived and then refused to install as we have an oil fired boiler and they are apparently not allowed to install even although technically they could) Have searched all threads but cannot find exact duplicate of our system.

No when you fit the hive you remove the Honeywell programmer and room thermostat or they will over ride the hive, and your immersion heater can not be wired into this circuit in any way

Many thanks for your reply. I am intending to remove both the Honeywell timer/controller and the Honeywell thermostat. The current wiring has been working perfectly for the last 4 years with our hot water on 24/7 and the heating as per our programming or instant changes afforded by the "remote" Honeywell thermostat. Whilst I understand your comment regarding the Immersion, it would be very useful to me to understand what I should do vis a vis the wiring to install the Hive. Can you help with that ?

You cant wire the immersion heater element to the hive, the hive has to be supplied by a 3 Amp protected circuit, the same circuit that supplies the boiler and valves etc, why would you want to control the immersion with the hive? it is only there for use as backup if your heating system fails
Remove all wiring for the existing programmer and room thermostat, from thhive wire
3 to brown wire on DHW zone valve
4 to brown wire on CH zone valve
and obviously a L&N to L&N on the hive
Its as simple as that leave the rest of the wiring as it is, as already said the L&N supplying the hive must come from the same circuit already in

I think what the OP has marked up as immersion heater is actually the cylinder thermostat, which should be wired in series with the hot water valve as he has shown in his wiring diagram. Otherwise there would be no control of the temperature.

Many thanks for your inputs - I assumed because the wires went into the side of the tank that they were into the immersion - but may well be temp control - sorry but the original install was done by a very professional heating engineer, who I am sure would not have done any "botch job", the quality of the wiring and layout is perfect, with everything aligned perfectly. Unfortunately I am no longer in contact with him, but any error in my wiring diagram is down to me. Any help is greatly appreciated. Any suggestions as to how to wire the Hive based on your expertise and obvious common sense corrections of my wiring diagram ?

yes if it is the Cylinder thermostat and not the immersion heater then your wiring is correct
