Hi,
We moved into the house last December and are just getting to grips with the outside space.
We have just had an area of overgrown garden cleared from the side of the house and would appreciate any suggestions as to what to do with the recently cleared space.
The guy who did the clearance suggested continuing the grass as far as the garden wall thus taking care of the corner part of the plot but I am unsure about what to do with the area that runs down the side of the garden wall.
As you can see, the bottom of the wall is formed by concrete blocks with brickwork above and the gardener suggests that the uprights were originally used as a form of cladding to disguise the blocks (picture seems to confirm this) he thinks that over time vegetation has grown behind this cladding and pushed it away from the wall, and that subsequently someone has bunged some concrete mix in the resulting space.
He suggests a good dose of weedkiller and then cover the soil in gravel (assume that some anti weed membrane would be needed first).
Should we look at refitting the 'Cladding' against the wall as before or is there a more elegant solution please?
