Hi All, please bear with me.

The house has an old style fusebox, the fuses being the wire type.

Fluorescent tube in kitchen wasn't working, checked 5amp fuse, and decided to rewire it anyway. No lights at all on ground floor, all other circuits working okay. Am going back now to check the fuse with circuit tester, on it's own. Is my only resort to call for professional help?

Thanks for the reply, the tube was not working, then I changed the starter, with no effect. So I checked the wire fuse, thought it looked a bit poor, so changed the wire. No lights at all on the ground floor, and I had not checked other lights before attending to the tube. I've now checked the fuse on it's own and it is good. Still no lights on the ground floor, all other circuits good.

If no lights at all working on the circuit then it can only be a loose/broken/disconnected wire in the fuse board or between it and the first light on the circuit.

More likely Live but could be Neutral.

Thank you. I will be able to have another look in the morning. As I said, it's a very old fuse box and I'm sure, any professional, would recommend a new box etc.. I will have to start to look for local electricians.

Thanks for the attentions and comment........just rewired the fuse, changed all connections on the fluorescent and all is good.
