Hello there,

Please can somebody help? I'm sorry for this repetitive thread, but I can't find an answer. I seek the engineering code, preferably changed to default.

I had a galaxy 2-12 wired alarm system installed in 2010 by adt, although the mainboard was replaced in 2014. I paid outright. It was maintaned until late 2017, when I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I thus cancelled the adt contract, and I had the remote signalling disabled. The two local alarm chaps didn't want to know about an adt/galaxy system. Still don't.

Now there are alerts about bell tamper.

Unfortunately I do not know the adt engineering code, and I am too frail now to go up a ladder to remove the external sounder battery and power it down.

I do want to get the external sounder removed, and have all the codes.

I don't think the instructions below copied to default the panel are complete.

If I had the engineer code, I think I could fix the immediate problem by setting parameter 51, 23 alerts to visible only, while I find help to get the external sounder removed and replaced with a dummy. I have been told that if I power it down, the both sounders will run for the 15 minutes limit.

I enabled parameter 48, esc out but the default engineer code 112233 isn't valid. Sounders activated on battery disconnection. (48 enabled).

We live near Chichester....
PM me if anybody is willing to help.
Many thanks.

Michael

Deaulting Galaxy panel:

if you access the end station try the following
remove mains
remove battery
put a link between 0v and tamper on the siren out pins on the pcb
remove connections to zone 1 (1001)
defeat panel tamper switch, put the end station panel screw in place
then power the panel up bay battery first then mains
enter default code 1234 (or 12345)
this should silence the system
then ESC
then enter default engineers code 1122 or 112233 depends on software version
then ENT
enter engineer code again that should default back to factory.

ADT often have there own firmware for panels and so normal rules may not apply unfortunately.

If you paid outright for the system speak to CAB and see if they can advise you on your options of getting a defaulted code from ADT or whom ever last upgraded the pcb.

Thank you very much for your reply. I called ADT, and they quoted £180 to power it down. I mentioned CAB, as you advised, and he suggested that I submit a complaint which I've done. I'm hoping a friend will remove the external bell box tomorrow, and replace it with a dummy one.
