Downlights and 24v LED Strip on single dimmer.

I have had an electrician put in some new lighting to my kitchen, but am worried that I've not thought things through and I've got something that isn't going to deliver what I want.

Installation has a single dimmer switch that controls 6 standard downlighters, but also a 5amp plug socket to connect remotely switched lighting. My intent was to attach a 24v LED power supply to run LED strip along the top of my kitchen units. I wanted them all on the same switch so they could be turned on and off together.

I do want the 6 downlighters to be dimmable, but the 24v power supply will not be expecting to be on a dimmer circuit. Secondly, although the LED can be dimmed, it is done through a RF/zigbee remote.

Is there such a thing as 24 power supplies that will cope on a dimmer circuit? I realise that turning the dimmer down won't dim the LED, I just don't want the LED powersupply to break or malfunction.

Otherwise, I think I'll either need to pick: (a) no dimming of spotlights, (b) dimming of spotlights, but not LED; or (c) replace the current standard spotlights with zigbee versions and have them controlled alongside the LED strip.

Grateful for any advice.

I have had dimmers in the past where push/pull turned light on/off and turn worked dimmer and the wiring on back of switch was independent, however there was nothing in the advert that said that, only found out once bought, all the old dimmers are now gone, it was an 80's fad as far as I am concerned, and the fact that LED lights need a new breed of dimmer, and it does not become red is it dims so has not got the old ambience, I have never bothered fitting any.

The modern idea seems to be use of remote controls, and the light switch has changed, with the S terminal replacing the old Com with two way switches and use of master and slave with today's lighting, the pull/push switch was to allow two way operation so not sure if made to work with LED lights.

Thanks. The challenge I've got is that I've got a single lighting ring going to a single switch. So even if my dimmer did have separate circuitry for press and twist elements, they'd both be connected to the same circuit. I think I'm leaning towards option (c) above, unless anyone can advise that 24 power supplys will cope fine with receiving a 'dimmed' current.

And if you use RGBW strips you can adjust the colour as well as the brightness if you miss the ambience that Eric mentions.
