Hello,

The builders start work on my extension next week. It’s only small and I’m torn with radiator position. Well for making the room work for me anyway.

At one side of my bi folding doors the internal wall is 300mm wide and the other side is 400mm wide.

What I’m wondering is, it is feasible or is it going to look ridiculous to have a vertical radiator on both sides of the doors? Smallest one I can find is a double panel at 236mm wide using central h valves.

I like the idea of 2 as it spreads the heat out a little and gives me the 6000 btu I’m told I require. The alternative is a bigger single on a different wall.

It’s a bit awkward as one wall has bi folds to the garden. One wall has bi folds back into the house. One wall is basically a glass window and that leaves one solid wall only but I’d like to keep this free if I can.

Is a 236mm radiator on a 300mm wall a ridiculous idea?

Thanks in advance!

Did exactly that for this job....
Had more than 300mm nibs either side of the bifolds though.
Don't forget to allow for the valves when sizing... The right hand one on this install was very tight to the wall but it went (y)

Just remember that the new vertical radiators might be flow and return orientated, meaning the flow must go to side with the baffle fitted, your installer should know this.

Thanks guys. Picture helps. With a 300mm bit of wall and a radiator at 240mm I only have like 30mm for each side so was trying to get an idea of it looks stupid or not.

Thanks for pointing the valves out. Hopefully he knows what he’s doing. My role is just to come up with stupid/impossible ideas and generally point at stuff.

Radiators I’m looking at are vertical but with central valves coming under the centre of the radiator so valve space either side won’t be an issue
