Hello everyone,

I am looking for a DIY wireless smart home alarm with sim card autodialer (don't mind using a gsm gateway if needed). The only two reputable options that I have come across are the ERA homeguard and honeywell evohome, but can't find many reviews online.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Is there any other good options that I haven't noticed, especially ones that may work with GSM gateway? I really need the SIM card option as don't have landline and broadband is extremely temperamental.

Cheers

Thanks for the response. I have been looking at options for this system.
As I understand, v10 comes with digi-wifi as default option.
Can the digi-gsm be added on top of this or is the wifi capability lost upon its addition?

Why does it need to be GSM based ? and how DIY do you want it ?

Doesn't need to be GSM based, but ideally I cannot have it relying on the home broadband because we get routine outages.
Ideally I would like something that works of the wifi, but is able to send a message/call via GSM. I don't mind it working solely of a GPRS network if wifi + gsm proves impossible.

I looked at videos of the enforcer installation, and seems straightforward. I can manage as long as it doesn't need direct wiring into the electrics.

I use the Honeywell galaxy flex with GSM/GPRS module and Ethernet module. Cost is about £345 for the FX100+ panel with Ethernet, GSM/GPRS, Wireless RF portal and a MK7 keypad. You can use Honeywell's basic push based app monitoring for free, or use SelfMon for path checking/multiple recipients. You can fully remote control the panel via apps with virtualkeypad.

Ok, so sounds like if I go down the Enforcer route, the easiest would be to stick to a GPRS module. Does anyone know how much data this thing uses? Just to inform my choice of data plan.

I am not sure about the galaxy Flex. Seems to have many bad reviews online.

Pyronix do a GPRS + Sim module includes CSL data sim
This requires a subscription to the cloud service.
The GSM module can use third party sim card for text messages only
This can be pay as you go,contract sim or security sim card
These are two different modules make sure you order the correct module.

Ive always used my own data sim cards....new been supplied with GPRS unit......
