We are renovating the bathroom and I have been looking at a good quality vinyl click or waterproof laminate floor. I’ve found a decent tiler to fit the new wall tiles. Basically I want to know how to get the neatest transition between flooring and wall tiles allowing for the necessary expansion gap. The tiler is happy to either tile down to the chipboard floor (and then I can lay the floor against the tiles) or I can fit the floor and he will tile down on top of the finished floor. Any ideas please for the neatest finish avoiding any ugly trim?

Click flooring requires trim or skirting . Tile the floor .
I suppose this means asking the tiler to tile down to the chipboard floor and then fitting the floor. I really want to avoid using trims as they really look ugly unless there are specific trims for this job?? My wife really doesn’t want the floor tiled. Unless we opt for the glue down vinyl like Karndean or Amtico that doesn’t need an expansion gap.

Get him to tile to the floor and with vinyl click leave a 3mm gap and Quickstep kit ( like silicone ) it.

Or leave small gap at bottom of the tiles and slide under

Cheers. Just had a quick search online for that sealant kit and it can be used for filling expansion joints for click flooring. So, like you say I could tile first and then lay floor up to tiles and cover small expansion gap with that....or.....lay flooring leaving gap and then tile down to new floor surface and either leave a small gap or use this filler.

Even with Quickstep Impressive lamainte you could leave a 3mm gap each side and seal up.

Can I just check if you mean leave a 3mm gap between the laminate and the tile? (tiles laid first all the way to chipboard floor)
