Ecomax 824/2E wrong temp - luke warm water

It could be useful, but sometimes when you replace the new ones they are usually quieter. The reason being I’ve had a few where the diverter has been ultra quiet and in the end needed pcb’s.

Update, replaced the heat exchanger. No difference, boiler just reached temp then declined as normal then wasn’t getting above 49oc despite hot being set to 60oc

In terms of this video, should I have heating and hot water on to record it or just hot water only?

You need to understand how the boiler works, the fault codes and status codes at the point of failure rather than slinging parts at it. Call a professional Gas Safe engineer who knows his way around Vaillant boilers.

Theres an ex Vaillant senior engineer who is now independent in Oxford.

There are no fault codes and status codes show normal operation that’s the issue, the boiler believes it’s doing what it should be but just can’t seem to reach target temp anymore.

Who’s said engineer?

Yes we know what it is, you have spent a lot of money wasted? Surely better to ring a pro, the part costs about £20, probably would have been fixed by a pro all in for less than the bits you fitted mate, as 831 said search ex vaillant engineer in your area he will sort it

If said engineers first name starts with a “T” it’s worth noting I tried this back before I had the parts replaced (on the phone booking him he suggested it sounded like the diverter valve FYI). He was initially booked to come round round but couldn’t attend the in the end due to being unwell on the day apparently. Since then he’s ignored my texts and no longer returns my calls.
He serviced this boiler last year so and had a good chat with him so have no issues having him back. But if he’s not getting back to me, and every other engineer I spoke to who aren’t Vaillant experts want £150 with no parts just to take a look, what would you have me do?

So far as far as I’m concerned two parts have been replaced that are prone to failure, so assuming the next part replaced does solve it the boiler will have a new lease of life for the future.

A £20 part doesn’t leave a lot of options, are you suggesting it’s one of the NTC’s? Pressure sensor? N-R valve (I haven’t been able to test this as can’t isolate the mains to the boiler, I have to turn off the mains itself)?

No his first names alan, i think you would have been better paying the £299 fixed fee to vaillant, that includes every part and labour and warranty

Oh! Different guy then, googling ex- Vaillant engineer oxford doesn’t give me any obvious results. Would you mind pm’ing me his company? Unless you’re willing to disclose said £20 part to save me another few hundred. Thanks!
