CMIIW, but isn't ITV wholly paid for by the adverts???

There are many different types of programmes on the telly box & Dork has to admit that he watches very few of them, practically none if you don't include news, live sports or catch up TV.

If this show was on ITV then it had an audience that ITV could sell to it's customers, those customers being the people that pay for those adverts . . . Which are watched by the people watching the telly box at that particular time.

There's this thingy word called 'demographics' that I feel should be mentioned, but I don't know how to dumb it down enuff' for DIYNot.

Having never watched this phenomenon of a show I wouldn't know to what demographic ITV's customer was aiming for ? So, what exactly did they advertise during this show???

Do we expect them to protect the rich/corporates and persecute the poor/disadvantaged?

Because that's what they're doing!

But maybe you approve of that approach?

Edit: Government has more powers over you than your parents. As soon as your birth certificate is signed, you are subject to whatever it decides to do!

I approve of government policy which increases investment in the UK economy creating jobs and income. I'd rather they didn't go back to the days where those who added least value trumped economic viability. That said, we have a very good safety net for the "poor", compared to other countries. There is a balance to be found, but our government isn't cozying up to industry without good reason.

Care to enlighten us on those 'days'?

Compared to the 'third world' and the US, then maybe...

Of course if you compare it to Scandinavia and Western Europe, then it is pitiful!

That reason being that government is corrupt...

They are funded collectively, individually, and party wise by the corporates who buy policies that suit them!

Or by unions who have their own agenda - this is politics. We aren't going to agree. You tend to assume a government does something because they are corrupt and evil. Most servants and MPs are trying to do their best to get things done which help the people. left right and middle they are trying their best to improve things. Some ideas work, others don't.

The rich are not a magic money tree. Shake them too hard and they will up root and leave.

Theres definitely more than one horse race.

Its a bit like humans: we are made up of different races, some a mixture to 2, known as mixed race (y)
Not quite correct, but very nearly.
We are all a mixture of at least 2, Neanderthals (or 3 if you include Denisovans) and Mitochondrial Eve ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitochondrial_Eve ). Although more recent research might suggest an interbreeding of more diverged species.

"Although the narratives of human evolution are often contentious, several discoveries since 2010 show that human evolution should not be seen as a simple linear or branched progression, but a mix of related species. In fact, genomic research has shown that hybridization between substantially diverged lineages is the rule, not the exception, in human evolution. Furthermore, it is argued that hybridization was an essential creative force in the emergence of modern humans."

Corrupt and self serving actually...

Most servants and MPs are trying to do their best to get things done which help the people.
No, they are self serving...

Especially given the 'profit before people' approach that has become the default...
The rich are not a magic money tree. Shake them too hard and they will up root and leave.
The rich are where they are because they are allowed to exploit the vast majority...

And they won't p iss off, because they will always be allowed the ability to exploit whilst their money is hidden offshore!

You really are very naive!
