Which model of gully have you used?
I can’t make out from your picture but if it’s an Osma one that can be raised up with 6” pipe then you could cut it short and glue the top on rather than having the rubber seal hold it in place.

I think most bottle gullies can be extended with 6". Problem is buying the (expensive) 6" pipe!
I keep all my off-cuts of 6". Very handy for road stop tap access (and raising gullies).
