Hi all, washing machine not draining after spin and door wont open so wanted to try and clean drain...but when i unscrew grey round plug on front there is a white plastic part still left in hole behind it...in the manual pics it looks like it should come out with grey screw cap.. i wondered if this was the case before i tear into it with some pliers ...can anyone advise?

show us some photos of the parts you mean.

I suspect you mean the filter which has never been touched and is now jammed and will probably break. A new one is not expensive. But I await your photo.

Thanks for your reply, this is a pic

You should have a drain hose next to the filter - a thin black pipe with a bung in it that you can drain down the drum before opening the filter.
Puc shows what it should look like, and you can see the paddles from the pump

looks like yours is broken.

filter can break if it is stuck. I thought they were cheaper than that. It should open by hand. You can put a bit of silicon grease on the new one; or if you manage to get it out.

It's a very common stock part, presumably happens a lot.

this one is mine, yours may vary according to model number (mine begins WFL). From Bosch:
