Problem with Brexit is there is no centre ground, you either want out or to remain. A second referendum is very divisive. I hope these EU election results restore order, and we can just get on with Leaving with our without a deal.

I am not convinced that there is no middle ground. Isn't a soft Brexit the middle ground?

The likes of Farage keep insisting that all of those that voted to leave want a no-deal Brexit even though he has no proof to back up his claim.

I don't see what is wrong with asking the public if they still want to leave, and asking those that do want to leave if they want a hard or soft Brexit. Surely that is more democratic than assuming you know what people want?

I don't understand why a second referendum is "divisive". Personally, I believe that the vote will significantly swing in the other direction. If it doesn't at least we will have clarity.

MPs have been getting a lot of grief of late with accusations of ignoring the will of the people, however, many of those MPs are acting in accordance will what they believe is the will of their constituents. I live in an overwhelming remain area. We wouldn't expect our MPs to back all of the opposition party's policies if that party wins a general election. So why should we expect them to back something that we do not want?

Better still we can just get on with revoking article 50.

Nobody talks about any good reasonsvfor Brexit now, the narrative is 'we just need to get on with it'.

Its dangerous because leavers arent interested in why, they are only focused on 'its got to happen.

So how would that work?

If you put all three options on a single ballot paper, even as a remainer I would say that is loaded against leave.

If you have a two stage referendum, then how do ask only those that do want to leave if they want a hard or soft Brexit?

Because leavers haven't worked that out themselves!

Use conditional answers.

Do you want to leave- yes or no- if you answered yes, do you want option 1 (soft) or option 2 (hard)?

Granted it means that leavers have to answer one more question than remainers but I don't see that as being a major hardship.

I cannot see any other way of ceding to the "will" of the people unless you ask them what they really want.

If the majority answer yes, you then take into account their second response. That said, if in the event of the majority votes being to leave and a majority of leavers voting for a soft brexit, the likes of Farage will probably still claim that the democratic will of the people has been ignored.
