Hi there!

Can anyone explain to me how this system works? Why 2 boilers: Potterton Promax SL(mounted in the kitchen) and Megaflow(installed in the corridor)?
I'm very confused. Which one of these is heating the radiators for the central heating?
Is this system worth it? The flat has 2 bathrooms. Please see the attached pictures.

Hello,

You do not have 2 boilers, one is a boiler (kitchen) and an unvented hot water cylinder in the corridor. Your boiler when selected on the programmer underneath heats either heating, hot water or both if selected together. If you prefer you can use the immersion heater attached to the cylinder, instead using electricity. X2 bathrooms with mains hot water is excellent IMO. System seems worth it to me.

Hope this helps?

The Potterton is a boiler. Burns gas to produce hot water.

The Megoflow is a cylinder ( tank ) that stores hot water.

The hot water from the boiler circulates around the radiators

Inside the Megaflow is a coiled pipe that act like a radiator to heat the water in the cylinder.

Thats where my confusion comes from: Why do I need a water tank to store hot water if I have a boiler to produce it?
Or do you mean that the Potterton is not a combi boiler?

Thanks!

Which is better: to keep patterton+Megaflow or get rid of them and install a new combi boiler?

In my opinion it would be better to keep the existing set-up as with the mega flow you will experience better flow rates and pressure than with a combi.

Why would you even think about replacing your existing system with a combi? What you have now is far better. If it's not working properly, get it fixed. Even if you had no system installed and were starting from scratch, Potterton+Megaflow would be better than combi.

The quick answer is a combi will not supply 2 hot outlets at the same time. The unvented HW, if there is adequate cold mains flow and pressure, will happily supply mulitple HW outlets at the same time.

It's a no brainer ..... keep the current system.
