Hi, I've got two of them in the living room since I am planning to re-paint the room I was thinking to get rid of them. Probably they are both sort of artex style and there is lighting installed in the middle of them.

Anyone knows what's the easiest way to remove them without making too much damage to the ceiling?

Wondering if there is any probability it was used to cover some serious problems or worst installed in a way to add some support.

Any advice would be appreciated. BTW is it something professional decorators would deal with it?

Regards

Disconnect and remove light fittings. Ram a filling knife or similar round the edge and that might be enough to break the seal.

It might be screwed to the joist, but mine was just held on with plaster blobs and came off quite easily.

sundaydiyer, good evening again.

Understood, suggest you try to find any metal screws by running a magnet over the entire surface of the Rose, use as strong a magnet you can find.

Removal, it will be attached by Plaster [and possibly screws??] or possibly even Mastic or some other glue as OwainDIYer, above gently ease a thin flexible knife, scraper, any long thin flexible metal will assist.[even "Borrow" a metal spatula from the kitchen??]

Slow and gentle, that way you will reduce any remedial work once the Rose is removed.

Obviously if you're in a Victorian house then it might be worth something if you can get it off intact. They were plaster with burlap and some wood

If it's a b and q special in a modern house off you go

99% of them will be screwed on with some kind of wet filler as a glue

Thanks @Tigercubrider, @KenGMac just run a metal detector around that and can't find any screws. Will double check in the morning but it looks like the rose is just glued. I guess I will find out soon (y)

The trick is "Softly, Softly" that way you will minimize any plaster damage, making for less work and less marking of the plaster on the ceiling.

If you can??? try as strong a magnet as you can find??

Best of luck.
