I think he will be found guilty. I think a jail sentence is extreme. Also think he's the wrong man for PM and can't see him getting in. If he did however I would consider supporting him.
Jeeez,,take every lieing poiltician to court ,ROFL...BJ will end up no where near a Crown Court Case over this

If we locked up every mp that told a lie, we would have no one too vote for.

But if were going to do it, lets start with tony bliar, a man that lied so he could demonstrate his ultimate power by murdering 1000's of innocent people, and consequently become the biggest recruiter for jihad.

It is going to a Crown Court.
The preliminary hearing will take place at Westminster Magistrates' Court and the case will then be sent to the Crown Court for trial.

There is some tests to be applied.
Is it misconduct in public office?
I won't bore you with the finer details.

If he is found guilty, the chances of him going to prison is very high. One has to consider the potential effect his 'lie' has had on the UK.

Even if he is found not guilty, do you think he is guilty?
Simple test:
As a public officer, did the public expect him to know the true figure?
As a public officer, but not in a public officer role, did he knowingly use a higher than accurate figure?

I'm not sure you can take into account whether his 'lie' had any effect on the campaign.
I'm not sure you can take into account his motive for using an incorrect figure.

I personally think that the test, "was he in a public officer role or not" is an unfair test. The general public would not apply a "is he speaking as a public officer, or in a private individual capacity" test, when listening to him.

He's not being sued for the perceived message of spending an extra £350m a week on the NHS (although the message on the bus doesn't explicitly say that). He is being sued for saying we send £350m per week to the EU, which we don't.

On a broader note, I noticed the prosecution had been crowd funded, personally I would be wary of contributing to such things, as if (not likely in this case) the defendant wins the case with substantial damages awarded, you are now jointly liable to pay those damages.

Turns out Boris was wrong about the £350 million figure after all. The figure is higher, at £363 billion.

(Interesting article. It also tells of how Gordon Brown was misleading over "Tory Cuts" a few years back. Start a crowdfund!!)

read page 7 of the transcript again. You're missing a key part (point 29). looks like a home goal politely documented.

I'm simply a plumber who's vote was as valuable as the most intelligent person in this country.

I'll more than likely believe in what the court rule.

I still have faith

Had the slogan said "We send £250M to the EU each week, lets spend that on the NHS instead" would you have reacted differently? What about £170M?
It is still rather a lot of cash.

btw for all - he's being prosecuted not sued. This is criminal court, it's an indictable offence.
