New shower to cover old power shower

Hi,

I am in the process of getting a combi boiler fitted.

I am looking for some guidance on a replacement shower which will cover the foot print of the old power shower.

Thanks.

Nope ... only thing that would cover an old power shower box would be an electric shower, or a concealed shower with wall plate. I assume you just want a thermo mixer run off the hot and cold mains?

I guess the old power shower box would be quite far up the wall too? Post a pic if you can.

Thanks for your reply @Madrab.

The old shower is a Triton IPS, only had it fitted 3 years ago with bathroom refit.

It's fitted in the wrong place place to cover it with a concealed mixer.

I was hoping a digital shower in a casing like a power shower if they exist.

I am looking for a system to run off the boiler, don't want to go back to a electric shower ever again!

You may get something in the digital range but they tend to have the valve integrated into the back of it and they all start at the £700 odd quid range, even then you would probable have to redo the pipework to get it all to fit in.

Silly question I know but why wasn't it all moved when the walls were being done?

Unfortunately I think you are going to have to redo all of that, re-cutting new channels for the pipework to fit a new mixer in the centre.

The bathroom was done 3 years ago, I am lucky that behind the wall is a cupboard which used to house the cylinder so pipework is nice and simple.

It's a shame no one makes a digital shower to fit the footprint of a power shower or electric shower.

I guess I will have to hope I can buy a replacement tile, fingers crossed.

I always advise customers having a combi fitted get an electric shower because sooner or later all boilers turn up their toes and with an electric shower you can still keep clean.Bob

Sooner or later all electric showers turn up their toes. Especially modern ones that use heating elements made in China.

I don't want an electric shower, I'm set on something running off the boiler.

I guess I will hope for a replacement tile.

I can't get a replacement tile, I wonder if I could get a built in shower valve onto the gap and the cover hide the untiled bit.

Have you tried taking the cover off the shower to see how big the hole in the tile is? That would be a good place to start.

@muggles Yea, shower is off the wall now, i have an opening approx 10cm by 25cm.

Behind the tiling is the airing cupboard so access is easy enough, just a shame it's solid breeze block and not studwork.

I will upload a photo later on. Thanks.

Am I the only one that can't see tiles in that photo o_O

I believe its an old photo, taken before tiling was carried out. OP said so somewhere IIRC ;)

And by the look of it, the tiling was done up and around the shower unit, hence the big hole he has now it's been removed o_O
