Bodd

I sat the other morning before work and see a clip of Cheers.

I think it is the best American comedy to date.

All American comedy is rubbish. But Cheers, Spin off Fraisure and Everybody Loves Raymond are reasonable. The rest, don't bother.

What about the flintstones, yabba dabba doo. Yogi Bear and booboo. As you can see, I like highly intellectual comedy.

never found american comedy funny its far to shallow
loved lue grant and taxi perhaps 40 years ago but the false and pretence and being very artificial and materialistic off most american tv i did not like in the least

Vile retarded bigoted right-wing racist that I am, I think British comedy is best; and British music too; and British art etc etc etc.

There have been many great American comedy TV shows and films however - especially from the 1960s, such as 'Get Smart', 'The Adams Family' and 'The Beverley Hillbillies', and going back further, the great 'Sgt. Bilko'.

'Soap' is an all time favourite - forgotten now, I've never seen it repeated. 'Police Squad' was an absolute classic! 'Taxi' was OK. 'M*A*S*H' was so boring that I didn't realise it was a comedy until someone told me it was.

I can't be bothered with 'Friends' or any such modern American comedies. 'Cheers' never did anything for me either. 'The Simpsons' and 'Married With Children' were about the last American TV I laughed at.

M*A*S*H - TV series; not the film - and lots of others.

I don't think there are many British sit-coms that are funny; most just descend into stupid farce.

As John Cleese is in the news, Fawlty Towers is painful now. I did laugh at the time but can't figure out why.

Yes,I would have predicted MASH humour would escape you,and Simpsons hit your funny bone!!!

They're not comedies, but the American versions of House of Cards & The office, how exactly do you screw something up that badly.

American comedy, nah, way too obvious, you can see the punchline so so far away. Plus of course they have no concept of irony.
