Been reading on line about how variable quotes can be?

One day you get really cheap price, the next a really expensive one?

Makes you wonder if you're getting the best price.

You are not..Haggle for England.Insurance likes to make out it is an exact science, where in reality they are another bunch of thieving rip off con artists.

My daughter delayed hers by a day to save £125.

It was something like £895 on the actual renewal day or £770 if she waited till the next day.

A friend of mine got a quote on-line for car insurance, phoned up the company and managed to get about £ 100 of the final cost of the years car cover.

Several years ago, We decided to dump Sky, called them up only to be "tempted" to stay because Sky instantly offered to halve the subscription price, at which stage I was so annoyed the subscription was definitely cancelled, my passing shot to the person I was calling was to mention that if this was indeed the case why had i been paying full whack for several years?

durhamplumber, is spot on because the firm want you as a customer, sorry they are desperate to get your standing order, a call and a bit of a brass neck really helps.

Even managed to get half price on some slightly damaged bits and bobs from B&Q

All of that data they are collecting from you . . . . Insewerance brokers are amongst the first to misuse it.

i shop around including ensuring i appear from various places round the world ie using a VPN client, ive seen some of the AI used behind these comparison sites agree it's not all as it seems.

Well, it's been one hell of an evening. I had a quote for RAC through the quadruped comparison site. Couldn't complete the quote on line as the CTM code was not recognised by the RAC website. The guy on the RAC line checked all the details, but somehow the date we acquired the car was not there: not my fault as it was entered into the CTM website.
When I gave him the date, it instantly ADDED OVER £400 to the quote, rocketing it to well over the £2000 mark!!!!!!!! This was just for the lad's car alone.
Well, you've made a change to the policy, he explained......
I made sure I made my displeasure known, told him I hoped the call was recorded and that his superiors would listen to it and understand the sheer frustration customers would feel at this loading of a premium before even taking the policy out for a simple thing as a date of acquisition.

After much searching, Mrs Secure found a deal mentioned by MSE, using Money Supermarket to ask for a quote. Admiral were the most competitive (AND offered the most extras) and adding our car to make it multicar reduced the price even further, compared to the others. Now we have two cars insured paying a monthly fee equivalent to £120.

agree with durhamplumber - its absolutely evident there is only complacency when customers auto renew on a policy, price only moves upwards. A phone call always manages to budge a price online quotes cannot reach. The only problem i have found for example last year i switched to Hastings, but fck me the subcontractors who handle your claim are shockingly bad. So whilst i might of saved 20% on my insurance i am just not sure it was worth it. I use trustpilot to check first how well they are doing from a CS perspective.

A couple of years ago, my Insurance was due for renewal.

In rolls the renewal from the company I am insured with, guess what, the premium had jumped by as I recall about £100

Directly on to a comparison site, entered the details [all of them]

Up pops the best deal.

Guess what??

it was from the same Company that I was presently Insured with, grabbed it and reduced my premium by £ 120.

In all my years of driving, my renewal quote went down this year, nearly fell over. I've never had that happen and it's the first time I've stayed with the same insurance company for more than a year! It's always worth shopping around for all of these insurances and services. PITA to do, but it's the money and the principle of the thing..
