Wiring a LED AC floodlight up with no earth wire

It has 3 wires on it (live, return and earth). But my cable I wish to join it yo only has 2 wires.
Is there a problem not using the earth wire?

The problem is you could kill someone, this light needs to be earthed. The 2 core cable you have is no good. Get an electrician to carry out the work.

I’d be interested to see this 2 core cable.

Sure the earth hasn’t been cut off

Its better to stick with what you do know rather than guess.

The light is not plastic it is aluminium, as you would know, if you had bothered to look at the link.

And why are you telling him to "See what the earth wire attaches to inside". His opening post demonstrates his lack of electrical knowledge, so asking him to inspect the fitting is not going to achieve very much.

To the op, you don't have the adequate electrical knowledge to sort this out, you need an electrician as there are also other factors that need to be addressed.

I went back to the shop where I bought it and he said the earth will just be wired to the body of it and he said 2 wires only should not be a problem. Am I right in thinking that if there was a shortage in the wire and the electricity spills out to the body then it will travel down the earth wire and trip the earth leak fuse?

Also I just bough a pair of speakers from Europe, they have a 3 pin plug on the back of them the same kind of plug to a computer. With these speakers was supplied a 1 meter long 2 pin Euro plug cable and a 1 meter 3 pin UK plug cable, again dose it matter if the 3 pin plug is wired through a 2 wire (live+ return) cable?

1. The person in the shop should not be giving advice in an area he is ignorant in.

2. Generally speaking, if an earth wire is provided on an appliance, is should be connected to a real earth.

Yes, at one end. What about the other end?

No problem apart from not having an earth wire to connect the light's earth wire to.

Sort of - except you don't have an earth wire in the cable for it to be able to do that.

Not if your speakers do not require an earth.

Some pictures might help

The Euro cable is probably a Schuko plug which has side contacts for the earth.

It does matter if the earth is not connected. It is there for safety.

I have attached 2 images of the euro plug and a link to the speakers

It is a dual purpose Schuko / French plug. The earth is side contacts or a pin in the socket which goes into the female connect at at the bottom of your second picture. A already stated the earth is there for safety and should be connected.

So I will wire them up to an extension lead of 6 meter with 3 pin UK plug and 3 wire cable, if you don't see a problem with that?

So is the whole purpose of an earth wire there to take any electrical leakage away from the load and away to safety, the fuses box?

I uploaded a photo of the UK pin and euro pin 1 meter cables I have and what I plan on wiring the UK one to.

The euro wire is much thiner the the UK one, dose the euro wire have 3 wires to it or 2?

No.

If/when there is a fault inside a metal appliance such that it makes live the touchable metal - which is connected to the earth wire - a large current will flow which will blow the fuse, or trip the circuit breaker, and disconnect the supply very quickly.

Without this earth wire, the touchable metal will remain live indefinitely - waiting for you to touch it and get a shock.

But if the appliance was plastic it would not
