Firstly, do you have earth wires with a green/yellow sleeve on inside the box in the wall? (Another piccy maybe?)

You have bought the wrong switch.

You need a switched fused spur with or without neon, and just copy old to new connections.

If the new spur is metal it will need to be earthed.

No.

What he has now is a 20A DP switch, not a fused switch. I am therefore assuming it is on a 6A lighting circuit, and, whilst the new switch is not 'the same', it will be fine to use, as long as the earths are present(as you say).

Because it didnt have the fuse symbol on front i assumed it was a normal switch, its earthed inside as shown

Yes, you are correct, but either way the connections are the same.

And what about the Neutrals?

OP follow my original advice, but as he has stated you could also use a dp switch with neon.

I think you are correct,

Thanks, you swiftly edited that post! :p

So i need a new switch?

No.

Tommy,
You need to join all the blues together in a single connector block, this just gets tucked inside the back box.
The two browns which are together now, move them both to COM on the new switch.
The lone brown, put that in L1.
Move the earths from the back box and connect them all to the earth on the new switch.

Another trolling attempt, I corrected my small mistake which made no difference to my correct advice.
You did indeed make a small mistake by jumping to an incorrect conclusion.

However, you then added comments denigrating the advice and posters on the forum, much like the above post, and claiming you were the only one giving correct advice. Unfortunately, for you, you and your advice were wrong.

Some straw clutching going on here, so in future when someone needs advice on changing an accessory you will NOT point out that they have bought the wrong item.
Perhaps someone fitted the 20A DP because they wanted the neon or because they just had one. The OP obviously doesn't want a neon, so

why is a perfectly normal switch, that most people would fit "the wrong switch"?
