I need to paint my front porch which is an enclosed granite columns with timber glazing and solid wall construction. The solid wall portion has what I can only describe as a kind of crazy paved marble design. Basically a whole bunch of randomly shaped pieces of flat black marble cemented onto the exterior wall with mortar between the gaps. It’s kinda weird.
What is the best way to paint over the marble? The rest of the porch will be painted with a mixture of white masonry paint on the granite and other bits of render and oil gloss on the timber.
Would it be best to render over the marbled bits first or can I paint directly onto the marble? If the latter is feasible do I need a primer or to sand/rough up the marble first?
