I bought the above drill driver from Amazon in June 2018 to use on a self build project.
The chuck now ratchets and does not tighten.
A Dewalt service centre advised me that chucks are wearing parts and not covered by the three year warranty to which I subscribed.

Is the chuck replaceable?

Any other suggestions to remedy this?
Are the chucks sealed units?

Stick one of these on and if it had to go back under guarantee they may never notice?
Btw, the chuck on my Elu drill was only guaranteed for 3 months, it went just after but they wouldnt replace it,

I'll ring Dewalt and see about the warranty.
Thanks for the info on spares, I would not know otherwise.

Surely that are covered by the statutory 12 month warranty?

the chuck is easy enough to DIY replace with a new one.
see some of the guys who recondition tools on youtube they are terrific and easy to follow.

I contacted the Dewalt number and the voice said, Black and Decker and Stanley, so I was not too sure if this was the right one.
But it was.
It is covered by the years guarrantee and will be picked up tomorrow.
Thanks for all your comments

Doesnt normally extend to user serviceable, high wear parts or consumables, have a look at wood stoves for instance:

You are correct- see section 4.14

However, one still has a contract with the retailer. It the chuck hasn't been subjected to abuse, I would imagine that a small claims court judge would find in favour of the buyer. That said, I wouldn't bother going down that route for such a small sum. I'd rather pay for a better quality chuck.

Yes , dewalts first paragraph says this does not affect your statutory rights , which state goods should last a reasonable length of time .

When i spoke to dewalt recently about chuck wobble on a new drill, they also mentioned the chuck had a limited warranty and put me in touch with there approved chuck repair centre, who after talking me through a few things said the chuck was probably within tolerance and that would not be covered. I took the drill back to screwfix , and tried a few out they had in stock and choose the best of the bunch.
i did expect the drill chuck to run 100% true, but seems not , having looked a quite a few at a recent trade show, they all seemed every so slightly a little out.
It is the cheapest cordless drill dewalt make, also didn't realise that , as i may have purchased the 9 series 3 speed version.
Still may, if i can find a store with them in stock to check the chuck wobble

Glad you have sorted your chuck out in warranty , it may not be general wear and tear hence the replacement
