The layout of our kitchen refurbishment is leaving me with a headache as to how to run the extractor form the hod over the hob.

Option 1: ~8m long with 5 beds of 90 degrees. That avoids joists that run the "wrong" way and allows it to be hidden in the kitchen ceiling before dropping down at the top/back of the kitchen cuboards

Option 2: Go almost straight (2x90 degree bends) up and out the top of the roof via a suitable tile insert : distance would be ~5m. This option would require boxing in on the second floor any arrangements of cupboards etc to work with the boxing in.

Neither option is ideal and from what i understand i would need something better than a "standard" cooker hood fan to extract efficiently over those sorts of distances. Any ideas how this second fan could be added? Most cooker hood appear to have 3 or 4 speeds but the second fan could be on/off i suppose, but it still needs to be connected into the cooker hood control.

I don't have a picture for Option 2. the pipe just goes straight up from above the extractor hood
