Hi all

I'm planning on building the below once the weather is good.
First of all I've never done anything like this so it's going to be a challenge!

It will be stud work walls with osb on roof...

One thing I cannot work out is the pitch of the roof to take into account the shallow bit of the building.... How on earth do I do that?

Is it having a flat roof or shallow leanto roof with felt or rubber.

Or is it a tiled pitch.

Either way, it needs a hip at the internal corner -in the case of a flat roof the hip would be in the firrings -it allows the gutter line to be level.

It is over 30 sq metres so needs building regs of course........

Walls need to be 4 x 2 minimum for that size building.

If you have any unseen sides, you could could do those in rendaboard and painted.

Id recommend tyvek housewrap for breatheable membrane.

Thanks for your comments

- the exact dimensons arent correct, and on the finished building the floor space will be under 30m2 so thats that box ticked.

I had planned 3 x 2, but will take advice, out of interest whats the reason?

For the roof i had planned a small gradient, and then covered in something like this rather than tyles

my latest issue which i have re building regs is with it been within 1m of a boundary i think it needs to be clad in a class 0 cladding to satisfy the combustable aspect...... so i was going to do the unseen sides "ugly" but i dont think i can

Would you mind expanding on the "hip" etc?

Thanks for your help

Sorry, Im talking carp -it would be a valley.

You do realise the height restriction of 2.5m if within 2 metres of boundary?

The 30m square is internal

I would suggest a flat roof to give you a decent ceiling height. Epdm is great for diy installation

Rendaboard is class 0, its cement based.

Yep, 2.5m should be enough

flat roof is what i was going for.... pent, so a small drop to allow rain to drain.

i see what you mean with the valley, but still cant picture it on this!!

Im guessing the 9m run is the front.

In which case you do do the rear part (the 7m x 2m) as a flat roof with fall to rear. And do the 9m x 2m part as a pitch with the felt tiles you like.

It would need a big timber beam for the 'ridge' so you could have the front part vaulted.

You could do it all with felt tiles and just make the 2m x 2m part a leanto -with the 2metre section having a higher wall.

i think id prefer the latter, id like to keep it all a flat roof.

I can't see an elevation drawing, all I'm getting is a plan.o_O

Ive tried sketchup and im rubbish at it ha

Any ideas where i can get some relatively cheap ones drawn?

or different again

if i make the whole front wall 4 inches higher than the main back wall

and then the back wall of the shallow bit 2 inches lower

that should give me a flat roof all the way across right?

Thats all there is :ROFLMAO:

Personally I think the pitch will end up too shallow to use those felt tiles and look anything.
im not hng up on using them

to be honest i need it drawing so i can visualise it, but struggling to find somewhere to do it without paying 500 quid!

unless its necessary why give yourself problems with the above plan?
why not have a simple rectangle plan of two 4m walls and two 9m walls?

fwiw, theres no problem in framing a pitched roof with the original plan but it would be simpler all round for you with my revised plan.
the best bet is to build to the nearest truss dimension - then all you have to do is set your trusses in place.

i could, but it would look odd and leave me with a bit of a crap space of garden... attached is the garden
