Hey everyone i'm new to this forum and wanted a bit of advice, I've currently got a small CCTV system in my house ut i am getting a lot of surges and spikes etc, I cam across a company called who advised getting a ups that would solve this problem and back it up if the power goes off.

they look quite reasonable price wise and seems like a good idea but just wondered if anyone else had put one in for their system at all

Sorry if i have put this is the wrong place as just joined :)

A reasonably priced UPS isn't going to help much with surges and spikes etc, they just provide a backup when the power goes out, and only switch on when needed, otherwise they just sit waiting.

What you are talking about is a true online or double conversion UPS which will be a lot more expensive but runs all the time so that the power coming out of it will be nice and clean effectively seperate from the grid. These cost more because of the additional electrical requirements.

You can always try a inline filter, not too expensive and usually come in part of an extension lead to be used for computers.
