I have a couple of 'sack barrow' type wheels with needle bearings that I would like to use. The internal measurement given for the bearing is 20.66 mm. Its is obviously too slack on a 20mm bar. I guess the strange size of 20.66mm is likely to be old 13/16th of an inch (which works out at 20.64) ??

Is bar of this dia going to be available ? or would I need to turn something down on a lathe ?

No wonder I was given the wheels free....

any thoughts ?

I often find ebay comes up trumps for oddball sizes of steel, failing that there's a Metalsupermarket branch fairly close to me. 13/16ths is a likely size and this was used in barrows for corridor use as in hospitals and so on using a very soft pneumatic tyre.
Wondering if the needles are 3/16ths in diameter......I've come across them before.

Could you change the bearings to ones with a different internal diameter?

It might be they are made for 20mm bar anyway, they don't always have a great fit.

Good suggestion!
On a modification I carried out on a similar item, the outer diameter was pretty large and the hub had no lands for the bearing to sit on.....I managed by using two flanged bearings but it was only the States that could supply as the outer diameter wasnt available in the UK.
