Extending TV coax cable from loft

Hi again

Need to split and run coax cable from loft (where existing cable from external aerial comes into house)to supply TV on wall in bedroom directly below. Have F connectors and two way splitters and split coax a million times )but I’m not sure about best route to TV. Ideally, I’d run cable across to point in loft floor directly above TV. I guess I then have drill hole to feed cable through. Just not sure how that would work with coving etc? (Appreciate cable would have to run behind surface trunking, but it’s getting the cable into right spot above coving and directly above TV?

I usually drill a 20mm diameter hole into the yellow, just below the coving.
and use that to get the cable down from the loft.

You can use this for the cable to come out, or completely filler it over later

On the wall you will find a batten of wood between the top and the tv which is annoying.

The wall sounds like paramount:

In which case you may be able to use a length of trunking or oval conduit to push the cardboard dividers out of the way and find a route up the wall towards the loft.

You make a small hole behind the TV big enough to get the trunking or whatever in and then push it up, breaking out each "cell" wall as you go.

Ok. Thank you. V helpful suggestions. Like the idea of pushing the trunking up through the inside of the egg box partition. My only query with that approach would be how would I get it through the last few inches of the loft floor??

Depends on what you can see from inside the loft. If you can see the top of the wall, you drill into it from above in line with where you want the co-ax to pop out behind the TV, then you can fish down through the cardboard dividers.

Take care to avoid existing pipes and cables.

Hi again

Assuming I’ve been forgiven for previous misdemeanour.(Haven’t posted on any other site, so no duplication of effort etc)

Now been in loft and provide piccies of rough area above TV. Shiny blue loft floor to left of thin plank is where hole for coax cable would need to go. (Plank sitting parallel with joist- joist is shown far right of second image. Not sure if plank is right above end of wall, but certainly in ball park) In this scenario, it would seem be difficult to propel fibreglass pole or trunking from underneath and within wall to make hole for coax? (Loft floor rather than egg box partition being the impediment?) Only alternative is to remove section of coving or plasterboard just underneath it to drill out hole? Your views appreciated as usual.

If the wall in question has a socket on I would look for the cables appearing in the loft. This give you an idea where the wall is. You can then measure a long to where you want the coax.

Then drill down. If you see daylight and your landing carpet panic!

Shame about the loft floor!
