Electrical work quote

Hello, I’m renovating my house at the moment and it’s time more sockets etc were added I got a quote for £2700 to change old fuse box to modern consumer unit ,add 15 double sockets through out, two new lights in porch and under stairs, run wire for power shower and shaver socket in bathroom and down lights in bathroom and kitchen wanting to know if this is a good price for a three bed terrace or not also the walls are back to brick and the ceilings are down.

If it's to be done to a good standard, including all materials, it sounds like a reasonable price to me.

edit: You don't say how many downlights.

Without seeing it no-one can really answer your question. Quotes are the way to assess the reasonableness of the quote.

Yes I would assume the materials are included but would have to double check once the other quotes come in.

If you're comparing other quotes, make sure you are comparing like for like. It's so easy to have a slightly different conversation, yet think you've said the same as you said to the other guy, when in fact they're not actually pricing for the exact same job.

I know, I've done it myself. Gone for the cheaper quote, only to realise when it's too late that I've not actually gone into the same level of detail with the guy who had little to say as the guy who was more 'chatty'.

I always provide a written "Invitation to Quote", so that everyone gets exactly the same spec, and I require a written response that can be checked point-by-point against the ITQ.
