Thatch effect roof cladding

Hi all,

I'm looking for a little advice. I've been asked by my father in law to see if there is such a thing as thatch effect roof cladding. He and some of the village he lives in want to re-roof an old lady's house and to fit in, some kind of thatch effect would be ideal.

I understand actually thatching the roof would not be a viable option but I don't know why.

Its a bit of a weird request and thanks for any suggestions.

What is the existing roof finish on the house and why does that not fit in with the rest of the village ?

I shouid have said that I am NOT endorsing any type of simulated thatch or any thatch effect roof covering.

Does the old lady want anything done to her roof ?
