Couple of issues

Morning all:)

I`ve been a long time lurker around here but only just signed up, so here goes......

Got a couple of niggling issues with my central heating/hot water system which I can`t get to the bottom of, so any pointers would be much appreciated. Firstly, the system is old, open vented with hot water cylinder and 2 roof tanks. It was still running the original 40 year old Ideal Concord boiler up until about 5 years ago and I had it replaced with a Vaillant heat only boiler (ecotec 415, I think!).

When running central heating, all is fine without issue. The fun starts when on hot water only - the cylinder/pump gurgles as huge amounts of air are coming from somewhere, and continues until I turn it off. I`ve bled the system, emptied/re-filled etc numerous times, and still the same thing happens. There is an automatic air vent by the cylinder which seems to be working as air comes out of it when I turn the hot water off, so I don`t understand what`s going on here.

Also, when on hot water only I`ve got 4 red hot radiators. This is not a three way valve issue because the feed off to the heating circuit is cold, so is this likely to be a backfeeding issue? Would a check valve solve the problem? During the summer months this isn`t good as you can appreciate!

Many thanks, and hope my ramblings make sense
