It's a trooper, flies through it's MOT's, reckon it might have 10 years left in it... there said it, no doubt off to the big car park in the sky soon.

Illegal number plates...there are so many around nowadays, usually the type with a shaded background. Apparently you cannot report them to the police! How idiotic.

Send 'em all to the crusher...

The police don't have much time to deal with crime, they are too busy dishing out incident numbers for insurance purposes.

I was told, by law the maker of the plate has to put there name on the plate, if you dont want there name, you have to sign a disclaimer that there not intended to be used on the road.
When you follow cars you will notice most will have a name on them, any suspect plates wont have a name.
If the dealers still going they may be able to make plates for you

QUOTE
"No Name, Postcode and British Standard Mark
Every number plate that has been made to DVLA standards has information on the bottom. These are the name, trade mark or other means of identification of the manufacturer or component supplier and the name and postcode of the supplying outlet (e.g. National Numbers Ltd TS23 1LG), and the British Standard Mark (“BS AU 145d”).

If the number plate is missing this information the chances are it has not been made by an approved number plate supplier. This is dangerous as they cannot be held accountable for displaying illegal number plates."

Sadly, 333 the dealer has gone, replaced with a Subway and Aldi store. :(

My number plate on.my car is a show plate
Exactly the same as any other plate apart from a slogan in small letters at the bottom on the rear plate

And the car model name on the front

Recent car I bought also has show plates

This company says they do showplates, but they are made to BSAU 145d and have the manufacturer's name and postcode on.

The layout below most closely represents the appearance of the existing plate. Surely that complies with the law?

I used to own 2 cars from 1965. They had their original number plates (black background, silver embossed text). They were legal for that car.

There was another car not far from us (a 1984 Ford Granada) with the same style of plates which were clearly fitted after. They were not appropriate for the age of the vehicle and by rights, not legal. 3 years later they're still here and the car is taken out frequently.
