Hi Everyone,

We inherited a Duravit Starck 1 Toilet and the seat has cracked. I have purchased a replacement which has pictures of fitting instructions. I cannot work out how to remove the old seat and an e-mail to Duravit has only resulted in then sending me the same pictures of fitting instructions.

I have seen a video of a removal of a Starck 3 toilet seat which involves a pull up of the seat when in the upright position, but this does not seem to work with the Starck 1.

Any help/assistance will be very gratefully received.

Cheers

Mark

Remove the end caps that cover the seat hinges. Pull left one to the right and vice versa then seat should pull up off the pins.

Unscrew the two screw's ,one in each of the round chrome discs. The whole thing will then pull upward and off the pan.

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the reply. I can turn the screw on the right, but it just keeps turning, making no difference, while I can't undo the screw on the left.

Here are the instructions that came with the new seat.

I still think there is a technique to removing the seat, that I'm obviously missing.

Steps 4 & 5 in the instructions are clear - the hinges go into the seat and the plates are then screwed onto the pan.

They are 'top-fix' fittings and may rotate inside as you try to unscrew them - if you try a little upwards pressure (pull the seat upwards gently) whilst unscrewing it can help

As above. The "wing bolts" sound like they're slipping round as you try to undo the screws so you need to pull up on the seat as you use the screwdriver to undo the screws, this should clamp the wing bolts to the underside of the pan and allow the screws to rotate out of the fixing... You'll hear them drop when they've come fully off. A squirt of lubricant might help.
