can anyone recommend a animal deterrent device I can put in the garden to stop cats/foxes.

I’ve had a look on eBay/Amazon and there’s so many of the same product so wondering if any of you have had any experiences with a certain one you recommend.

Cats won't and can't cause "deep scratches" jumping onto a car as their pads provide grip and they don't have the strength to -- claws are ineffective on that sort of surface. Mine jump up and sleep on the bonnet regularly for the warmth. Foxes might do depending on their behaviour but there's next to nothing you can do to ensure they stay away forever.

If I'm honest you'll have little luck with deterrents because most don't work. I must admit it is mildly irritating to get cat much left in the garden from neighbouring cats but if I find it I just put it in the bin.

Having watched their behaviour they don't like security lights and they follow the same paths nightly. Male human urine is also something they don't like and I have heard success stories of people that have 'employed' it to disrupt paths.

Try to get some "big cat" Poo ["big cat---lion / tiger / ---Big cats] or similar wild large beasts?

if you spread that stuff around the perimeter it may?? help.

Ken.

I regularly get cat paw prints on my car... rarely a scratch. Maybe a camera to prove who/what it is might help? Maybe it is a neighbour... a fox can climb, but cats have retractable claws and can grip without them.

Otherwise most "deterrents" don't work other than getting your own cat or a dog. Urine and big cat poo can help as they're territorial things, but things like the sound emitters aren't worth it as humans can hear them mostly and the animals quickly learn that they're nothing... ever had a cat or dog not raise an eyebrow to a loud movie on the TV? They know what it is and ignore it.

I recently turned up to work to find that a fox had taken a dump on the client's Porsche soft top.

Oh I'll definitely put out there that the neighbour cat has laid a deuce on my car bonnet once (caught on camera too). The neighbour was horrified when shown. It wasn't the end of the world and we laughed about it. Scratches would annoy me, but isn't a cat (and fox) a "free spirit"?

We had, and still have, a couple of water sprays operated by PIRs. Simple: attach to a hosepipe, insert batteries, place in appropriate places.
Cat's might get used to sonic deterrents, but they'll never get used to being sprayed. Most cats don't like water very much!
Yes, they worked very well against visiting cats.
Then we got our own cat, so they had to go!

We had a huge problem when we moved to house a few years ago with a few cats coming into the front garden and sh*ting in the same place under the bay window.

Two things worked for us

1) got rid of any exposed soil and replaced with decorative slate, and
2) got these: PestBye Ultrasonic Battery Operated Motion Activated Cat Repellent https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FXSU2WK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_vzggDb10W7AZV

I found that the sonic deterrents worked great, they stopped coming in after a few says and they’ve never been back since.

Worth a go, looking at reviews it worked for some and not for others.
