Facias dripping a lot despite no rain.

Hi
Came home yesterday to find the facias on the front of the house dripping. Been in the roof - no leaks I can see or hear. No rain for 5 days so can’t see it being leaves in the gutter. Checked water meter - no water being used. No wet ceilings, walls etc. It stopped between midday and 2 today. Been v hot and humid. Thought it might be condensation but there’s a lot of drips 2 a second all day pretty much. Completely stumped. Called a builder who is looking at it fri but I’m worried. Tile roof. Relatively new roof and facias. Any ideas?

Thanks- so does this mean it’s condensation? Like I say it hasn’t rained for about 5 days. Could the vents in the pic be blocked? Will it be ok for week do you think?

Is there an overflow pipe from a tank in the loft that ends where the water is dripping ?

you have relatively new fascias , do you have any overflow pipes? Have any been forgotten when the new fascia was fitted?
I have seen overflow pipes cut off and left behind the fascia..you only know there is a plumbing issue when water drips/runs from the soffit

Yes. There is overflow pipes. I’ve been into the loft and can’t hear anything. Also, I would have thought that any leak would cause the water meter to go round? I’m so confused by it. Logic says it’s a leak in the roof but I just can’t see any evidence for it!

No there isn’t. I think I might have to give my plumber a ring.

A flow rate of a couple of drops per second is unlikely to register in the water meter. The most likely cause is not a leak in a pipe but a worn ball valve in a tank that is not shutting off when the tank is full.

look inside the tank in the loft, is the water right at the edge of the overflow?

Get someone to watch for drips (with phone in hand) and you nip up in the loft, take the top off the tank and hold the ball valve down until it forces lots of water into the overflow pipe then call your watcher and see if the result is lots more dripping.

Just dont allow the tank to overflow over the top.

It may just be that the ball valve needs a little altering to reduce the level.

If you get no more dripping when you test this then it's not your header tank and it's something else, come back here then.

@catlad. I have and again they can’t come for a few days hence the OP. But thanks for your constructive advice on a forum whose sole purpose is to give helpful advice for those like me who have a bit of DIY knowledge but seek further clarification on a few things. I suggest you look up the word moron rather than suggesting the helpful people on here are morons when they actually help as per the title of the forums.

Now turned water off at main. Left for 2 hours. Still dripping.
Not header tank. Tried that.
Thanks anyway everyone. I think I’m satisfied it isn’t anything that will cause too much damage until the relevant trade people can get here. Sorry for the rant above but what’s wrong with people these days?

turn your main off, run your taps for a bit and see what happens.

Yes I have turn the mains off. Run the taps. Still dripping! So can’t be plumbing surely? Really driving me mad!
