200 Schools considering cutting hours to save money

I would kick them out, it's their carers responsibility to look after them, not Motman's.
Have you ever had kids at school?
If so, did your kids' school(s) kick them out if a parent didn't arrive, for whatever reason?
Up until they were deemed old enough to leave alone (usually after getting to secondary), then a teacher would always be present at ours.
(and even in secondary, every time they needed to go early for something such as a dentist appointment, permission was sought or parental pickup required.
They took it to be a 'duty of care'...

Something you seem not to care about!

Yes, people used to take responsibility themselves, not rely on others to attach blame to.
So a parent gets killed on the way to pick up a kid and you'd happily kick out a young child because they didn't turn up?
There's a difference between individuals taking responsibility and a duty of care if they are unable to get there for whatever reason...

And before you say that's hypothetical, it has happened.
And how would the school know the reason for the parent being late?

Most children have friends ( an alien concept to you) whose parents will take them home. Me and my children were perfectly able to make our own way home, its called taking responsibility for yourself, a concept which has lost its meaning in this age of blame culture.

Ah, the golden age.

Can you tell us what year it was that there were no irresponsible parents; no sick ones, and none with other problems that rendered then unable to fulfill their responsibilities?

it was not in my lifetime.

mind your language
I am not concerned about percentages, I just stated the FACT that state school heads are on 6 figure salaries, as for a list, well I doub't that without a freedom of information request that one will be available, but numerous articles state the fact.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/educati...ead-teachers-earning-six-figure-salaries.html
https://www.teachingtimes.com/articles/heads-salaries.htm
Theses are old figures, so more will be over £100k

No, a real world.

I thought as much. You dont have the figures and the rise in heads on over 100k are those running MAT as stated in the article. Academies are free to pay heads what they like.

There are old men who are X, thats a fact your an old man, you must be a X, thats your deductive logic.

When I was at school, back in the 70's classes were well over 25, possibly closer to 30. The thing is, when does it come unmanageable for a teacher, 28,29? because there is not a lot of difference between 29 & 30. Why not just take away the extra children and make another class ? If you have 29 classes with 30 pupils, each class having to have an assistant, that's 29 extra employees, just take one pupil from each class to make another class of 29, get rid of the assistants and get 1 more teacher, or do you think they will struggle with 29, and if so, how many is manageable, 15,20, 5 ?

This is just bonkers. Pull a new class from where? So you take one kid from each, form class in a year so that prob 3 per yr per school so you would need 9 schools to contribute to create one class which will be located where?

Shows you didnt even think this through, utterly stupid.

Do you think that every classroom at every school is occupied for every minute of the school day ? Do you think schools are located many miles from the next school?

They get a friend ( google it ) or relative to step in, most 7 to 8 year olds should be capable of getting home from school. I was, my children & my friends children were capable, in the 1970's 80's & 90's it was common. You even have/had children caring for parents for one reason or another, if they can do it, why can't others ?, of course, how silly, it would be easier to pass the buck and rely on the state, or anyone rather than take responsibility, wouldn't it.

No, you can't.

There never was such a time.

Except, perhaps, in your imagination.
I never said there was a time when there were no irresponsible parents, just that a lot of parents and children did & to an extent, still do take responsibility for their actions, its just a pity that it is so easy nowadays to excuse yourself and hold other people responsible for your actions.

Ever thought that our 'suspicious society' now makes taking responsibility for other people's kids a bit of a worry?

Not for a normal adult, no. Do you feel worried with other peoples children? If not why suggest others might feel that way?
