Hi folks,

My radiators are getting warm when hot water is in use. Heating is off both at the control and on the boiler but the issue remains.

I have done some research already which points me to:
a)- Divertor Valve Switch
b)- Divertor Valve Cartridge

Am I right? I have also foind some threads pointing to the heat exchanger but then symptoms of that are different.

Please can someone advise If I am on the right path before starting the repair and parts ordered?

I was thinking of the following steps?

1-Turn the electric off
2-Turn the gas off
3-Turn the mains water off
4- Drain the heating system (understand this step may not be required if it is just the divertor switch)
5- Replace divertor valve cartridge
6-turn everything on and pressurise the system.

Please can someone point me at the right direction? Also advise where is the best place to get parts

Boiler is Ideal Vogue C40

I doubt you'll get much help here in the open forum. If I'm correct you will be removing parts inside the compartment which contains the heat exchanger, fan, condensate trap etc. This should ideally be done by a pro for your safety.

Is that not the purpose of the forum? The safety checks will be done during the annual service ( due in 2 weeks)

No it is against site rules to advise on gas work, you would have to remove the combustion chamber on this boiler in order to do this work, so you will have to be Competent, and as you think that you need to turn the gas off to do it proves that you are not, if you are getting it serviced in two weeks , tell the engineer about the problem and they can repair it at the same time, dont expect them to just guess that you also have a fault

No problem.. apologies I wasnt aware it was against the site rules. I have called one of the polish engineers to come have a look at it. Atleast he wont fleece me.

Cheers anyway

Really!
Why make such an inflammatory comment?
OK, here's one back...
You'll call someone who you think will be cheap. Cheap because they are Polish!
If they are cheap (and of any nationality BTW) it will be because they undercut the competition by...
a) not doing the job properly
b) not giving 2 hoots about future consequences.
c) being untraceable when consequences arise.
d) Gas Safe Registered? :ROFLMAO:

Skilled labour ain't cheap and cheap labour ain't skilled!

I'm surprised about reading the comments here.. all I wanted was some advice.

PS. We all know changing the divertor swtich or the cartridge doesnt involve touching the gas so dont understand whats the drama!! anyhow folks very helpful.. cheers all..
